What is Collaborate?

Collaborate® is an Intranet designed for the collaboration in document and project management, focused on the work teams and their interaction.

Because it is a web tool, every member of the different work teams can access it from within, as well as from outside the organization. Collaborate has been developed with a view to safeguarding information security and privacy while facilitating fast data transfer and notification of activities.

Collaborate’s primary aim is to offer organizations a centralized work tool where documents can be generated, stored, and distributed in a safe and simple manner. It further provides the necessary project management tools for project teams, as well as for follow-up and evaluation groups.

Requirements

Software requirements

We suggest two alternative software platforms for implementing the solution::

Option I:

  • Operating System: Red Hat Linux 9.0
  • Database: MySQL 4.1
  • Applications server: Apache Tomcat 5.x
  • Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.x

Option II:

  • Operating system: Windows 2000, 2003 o XP
  • Database: SQL Server 2000 (o MySQL 4.1)
  • Applications server: Apache Tomcat 5.x
  • Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.x

There are no functional differences between these platforms; in both cases the relational database may be stored in the same computer as the software application or in a separate computer. The solution can be escalated in farm mode should the demand for servers increase. Another web server and/or applications server can be used in both configurations, e.g. IIS + Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server + WebSphere Application Server, IIS + BEA WebLogic, etc.

Hardware requirements

  • Processor x86 1.5Ghz
  • 512Mb RAM
  • Interface Ethernet 10/100Mbps
